  3. Some maps of: 1. Limerick forest 2. ganaraska forest 3. larose forest Directions: 1. Take 20 west of Montreal until 401 -- keep on 401 past Cornwall. - At Prescott, exit 401 on Edward Street and drive 14 km. north -- go by large s-bend and keep going. Road will come to a T stop and continue north on gravel road -- an arrow points north to Limerick Forest - Watch for trail openings to right but best to start at huge gravel pit ( see map ) 2. Ganaraska Forest - west on 401 almost to Bomanville - go north on 115. until Porter Road exit near Pontypool. - drive until end of paved road. At Stop there is an entrance -- unload and ride from there. - you can turn right and drive for 1 minute to: Sandaraska Camp Grounds - here, you can camp as long as you do not ride bikes in the park -- dual purpose is okay. - You can also buy daily passes at the office of the campground. - see map of the trails -- can get lost in this forest also. 3. LaRose Forest -- 30 min. south of Ottawa - Take the 40 north of Montreal and keep onwards using the 417. - Go past Casselman and exit on Limouge Road, where you see on the right a new waterpark. - Turn right and keep going through Limouge until road bends to right. - After the bend, road will turn sharply to left -- GO STRAIGHT. - Keep on road until gravel and turn left at first gravel intersection. - Going east, drive until open parking lot - there are a lot of trail entrances. - You can drive back down road, cross over and continue west for more trails. Hopefully that helps -- enjoy. I TRYED ONCE AGAIN TO UPLOAD PDF MAPS -- FILE SIZE IS TOO LARGE.
  4. Thanks again! I know what stiff tires are to put on -- found out with my KLR650 and Pirelli Scorpion 17 incher on the back -- what a bitch to get on!!! 19 inch tire can't be that as bad. Still, I hope the Trakmaster will serve well as an all-round tire more for trail and motocross -- won't be on the road really. Did you mean 800 kms or 8000km? Bandman57
  5. Was wondering what anyone would recommend for my YZ250 F as a suitable, all-round back tire. I have my eyes on a Kenda Milleville sticky -- used this tire before on a WR250F and liked it. There is another tire by Kenda that is much cheaper -- the K760 Trakmaster II on/off road. I sometimes ride on hard surfaces too ( hard track like Valleyfield ). I went to Bike Bandit website and over 25 reviews were really excellent and only one was against. The reviews spoke of all possible uses. I do use my 250 in softer tracks like X-town and SRA Motocross. Tire cost is: $72.95 at Royal Distributing in Ontario. Any suggestions for my YZ250 would be appreciated. I also need new sprockets and chains as well. Want to put renthal parts on -- where can I buy these the best prices? Thanks, Bandman57
  6. Yes, thanks for the advice KTM rider. Believe me, i did get stuck in the mud once and was so glad someone else happened on the trail to assist. I usually go with my YZ250 and get in and out of mud a way lot easier. Thanks again.
  7. Been on the trail more and more with my KLR and have to deal with mud. Since I have a new road bike, my KLR sees less pavement. The tires I run are a MAXUS MC54 ( front) and MC68 ( rear). These tires are NOT DOT and generally a softer tire compound. The rear tire grabs excellently and I am quite confident not getting stuck in the mud. The front is another story!!! Because the KLR is quite front heavy, the front tire appears unstable and washes about in the mud. Standing up on the pegs seems to agravate the tire wash even worse. Standing makes the stability worse because it somehow adds weight to the front axel and the tire then only wants to agitate about while in mud, not turn and grip at all. Sitting down near the back of the seat so as to attempt to lighten the front is the only method that works better. I realize I have a lot to learn about mud running but I am tired of having to turn around and head back because of the swamps of mud out there on even simple trails. I've mostly been in forest areas but because of all the rain, one has to deal with the deep mud. Pot hole mud is fine -- no problems here. Trench swampy mud -- no chance here, unless I can go around it. Not always the case here. How do you guys do it? Speed up to the mud area, wheelie a bit to get the back tire into the mud first and then set the front down into the mud area and hammer the throttle? Maybe Shane Watts can do this, but me -- no can do! Incidentally, I can only barely clutch wheelie a KLR let alone get the front up while moving! Still, it is a challenge and in most trail routes I fare well. Even been down the two foot trails with her as long as grip is there to the tires. Any advice would help. Demonstrations would be even better. And why I do not go on long enduro trips with groups is because of the conditions of the ground travelled upon. I don't have enough experience to keep up with the guys. May be by the Fall I may be ready. Thanks again.

HELLO EVERYONE, I am new to the forum and learned of this from one of your members -- forgot his name as I only stumbled on your group at the Tim Horton's in Lachute this past early May. Wanted to make your May 16th ride but sadly couldn't. I am looking for a group to join who like to ride trails and motocross. i have three bikes -- YZ250F, KLR650 and Suzuki DL650. Am an intermediate experienced rider who loves both road and trail. I've been to XTown, SRA and occasionally ride at Valleyfield. These places are reasonably nearby where I live -- 13 minutes east of Rigaud. I ride many trails -- near Hawkesbury, Brockville ( limerick forest) and been up to Calabogie trails. I want to locate more forest trail areas to ride in the Laurentides and west areas of Quebec. Also am looking for a group to join and learn more riding techniques. i certainly am willing to accomodate anyone interested in riding eastern Ontario areas. Thanks for your interest and I hope to get started soon on some rides with the group. Bye for now.
